The new varieties of Pall Malls launched in super slims and compact king size styles are expected to be very popular among adult smokers across Europe, according to Anna Pavlova, senior marketing director for BAT Russia, who said that super slim cigarettes’ category made an astonishing breakthrough in international tobacco market several years ago, and currently accounts for 26% of European tobacco market.
Pall Mall is one of the oldest cigarette brands across the globe. It saw the world for the first time in 1899 in the USA. Currently, Pall Mall is the leading global brands for British American Tobacco and is selling in more than 60 countries.
According to European Tobacco Market 2008 annual sales report Pall Mall brand held a 8.1% market share in the European tobacco market. In 2008 the market share of the mid-price market segment (where Pall Mall is selling) rose by 1.7% percent compared to 2007 and accounted for 26.4%.
The first Compact King Sized cigarettes were launched by British American Tobacco in 2007, when BAT introduced Kent Nanotek brand. The length of these cigarettes is 83mm, but their width is 5mm in contrast to the standard 7mm-king-sized cigarettes.
As regards Vogue cigarettes, British American Tobacco has created innovative and glamorous design of the packs for these premium cigarettes. The company designers have used multilayer lacquered cover and ornamental lettering. The flavor of Vogue cigarettes as well became more intense and expressive.
“The re-introduction of Vogue brand family is reasoned not only by the outstanding growth of the super slims market segment, but as well by the fact the adult customers are willing to have new, refined and chic products” – says Karen Pasha, spokesperson for British American Tobacco Poland.
